CfP: IJCAI-2001 Workshop on Planning with Resources

************************************************************

                 Call for Papers/Participation

                     IJCAI-2001 Workshop on
                    Planning with Resources

                Seattle, WA, USA, August 4, 2001

************************************************************

Resources such as time, money and machines are fundamental
features of real-world planning problems. However,
conventional AI planning systems are not normally capable
of handling these requirements. In recent years, with the
ongoing orientation toward real-world applications, many
researchers have begun working on techniques for resource
handling. In this context, optimization goals other than
plan length are also gaining importance.

The workshop is intended to bring together researchers from
communities such as AI planning, scheduling, constraint
programming and linear programming. The workshop aims to
promote communication between researchers and seeks to
highlight new and interesting ideas for planning with
resources. Workshop topics will include:

  * hybrid systems: separate planning and resource handling
  * integrated systems
  * reasoning techniques for resources
  * temporal planning
  * planning and scheduling
  * planning with nontrivial optimization goals
  * problem modeling, problem domains and benchmark results

In addition to paper presentations, there will be invited
talks and panel discussions addressing the following topics:

  * Are conventional planning techniques still valid within
    the extended framework or are there fundamental
    differences that require a substantial revision of our
    approaches?
  * What can we learn from related areas such as operations
    research and constraint programming? Can we - and, if so,
    how can we - adopt these techniques?

--- ATTENDANCE ---

Attendance will be limited to 40 participants. Participants
