The International Conference on Automated Planning & Scheduling
(ICAPS) is the result of the merging of the International Conference
on AI Planning Scheduling (AIPS) and the European Conference on
Planning (ECP). ICAPS'03 will thus be the 13th in the serie, coming
after six editions of AIPS and six editions of ECP.

ICAPS'03 will be co-located with the PLANET International Summer
School on AI Planning 2003.

SCOPE AND PROGRAM:
ICAPS is the premier forum for researchers and practitioners in
planning and scheduling - two technologies critical to manufacturing,
space systems, software engineering, robotics, education, and
entertainment. The scope of ICAPS encompasses a wide variety of
approaches to planning and scheduling, including and not limited to:
- domain-independent classical planning
- planning and complexity
- planning and scheduling under uncertainty
- scheduling algorithms
- decision-theoretic planning and scheduling
- planning and reasoning about actions
- plan validation and verification
- planning and perception
- planning and learning
- knowledge engineering techniques for planning and scheduling
- planning and scheduling with complex domain models
- planning with resources
- planning with hierarchical task networks
- anytime planning and scheduling
- deductive planning
- model-theoretic approaches to planning
- constraint reasoning for planning and scheduling
- distributed and multi-agent planning and scheduling
- planning and execution
- reactive planning
- dynamic scheduling
- scalability in planning and scheduling
- mixed-initiative planning and scheduling
- case-based planning
- robot planning
- planning, scheduling and the new information technology
- applications of planning and scheduling

The format of the conference will be along a 3 days, single track,
technical program, highlighted by 3 invited talks. The technical
program will be preceded by 2 days of workshops and tutorials.

LOCATION:
Trento is situated on the flat ground of the Adige river Valley, in
the heart of the great itineraries between the lake Garda and the
Dolomites, between Venice-Verona and Bolzano-Innsbruck. It is
dominated by the nearby Bondone (2.170 m.) and Paganella Mounts(2.125
m.). It was a roman town of some importance (Tridentum). Even as a
satellite state of the Germanic Empire, it always enjoyed a certain
independence. The "Council of Trento" was held here from the year
1545 to year 1563 by the Catholic Church in an attempt to curb the
rapid progress of Martin Luther's Reformation. Trento is the ideal
town for few days among museums and expositions, castles and
sanctuaries, wine cellars and typical restaurants, archaeological,
historical and naturalistic journeys. Trento is also the ideal starting
point for day trips to famous towns and cities or simply out into the
countryside. Its region offers a rich carnet of cultural and sporting
events, performances, shows, reviews, and exhibitions. A constantly
changing calendar where nevertheless the important events are repeated
every year.

ICAPS03 will be held at the Centro Servizi Culturali S.Chiara, via
S.Croce 67, Trento. The Centro Servizi Culturali S.Chiara is located
in the city center, at walking distance from the railway station and
the medieval area, where churches and other historical monuments are
to be found together with elegant shops and traditional restaurants.
