=93*Students will list reasons why they don't take notes, including
articulating differences between being in a high school classroom and being
in a college classroom.****

*Students will discuss what they do in classes, what distractions are
present, how they could make better use of their time,****

*Students will articulate how they could take better advantage of their
time in classes and what they could do to be better prepared for exams.****

*Students will discuss the connection between taking notes and being
successful (or maybe not) in class.****

The purpose of this program is to get students dialoging about what they're
doing in class through p2p facilitating of engaging activities. Students
will articulate the value (or not) of taking notes and then share what
helps them best retain content. Students will recognize differences
between high school and college expectations for notes and will articulate
what are best practices to ensure you retain information from class.
Students will also discuss what distracts them during class, particularly
if it is a large lecture hall.=94****

** **

There is another program on 10/23 in the same place at 6 p.m.:****

=93Learning Outcomes:****

*Students will discuss the difference between high school courses and
college level courses****

*Students will discuss what discuss their schedules and how the demands of
being an involved student is sometimes are counter to academic demands.****

*Students will share study techniques and ask each other questions how and
why they study.****

*Students will participate in an activity where they list three things that
would otherwise assist them in either removing distractions or motivating
them to study.****

****

The purpose of this program is facilitate a discussion through
various fun and engaging activities that encourages students to discuss
what challenges they have either in studying, finding time to study, or
even how to study. This program encourages students to recognize
differences between what studying was like in high school compared to
college.=94****

Through ASU Wellness, there are a number of resources available as well.
Obviously counseling services is an option, but I might suggest students
peruse through this website:
https://students.asu.edu/wellness/stressmanagement and
https://students.asu.edu/wellness/help#C8. There are also workshops
available through our website to deal with Time Management specifically for
Engineering students as well as Study Skills and test prep. They are free
through Blackboard, and can be found here:
http://engineering.asu.edu/workshops/****

** **

If there are specific classes in which students are feeling overwhelmed,
have them consider SI (supplemental instruction) through the Student
Success Centers or the review sessions available to students taking courses
required for Engineering (math, chemistry, physics) in the PV West HUB
Student Success Center.****

** **

If the students live on campus in the Engineering Residential Community,
they should most certainly reach out to their peer mentors (living on their
floor!) who are trained to help them find resources as well. This month
(October) is themed as =93Personal Well-being=94 in the Engineering Residen=
tial
Community so there are many stress-relieving activities happening that the
students can take part in like yoga.****

** **

I hope this is helpful. If I can offer any additional support, please let
me know!****
