Third PLANET International Summer School on AI Planning

Announcing the third edition of a highly successful series of summer
schools in AI planning conducted by PLANET, the European Network of
Excellence in AI Planning.
Domain independent planning is an area of intense research interest,
encompassing a wide range of techniques and approaches, and
increasingly applied in different areas.
This school brings together subject experts from several countries. It
is aimed at PhD students and young researchers in the field, as well
as at industrial participants. The school will provide an introduction
to the broad range of current planning approaches, will present
applications of planning in several areas, and will provide a lively
forum for attendees to discuss their research lines.
The school is to be held in the week immediately following the
International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling
(ICAPS'03), located in Trento. Participation in both the conference
and the school is highly encouraged.

LOCATION
The school will be held near Trento at Madonna di Compiglio, in the
beautiful Dolomiti mountains. Situated at an altitude of 1550 metres
in a hollow between the Brenta Dolomites and the glaciers of Adamello
and Presanella, Madonna di Campiglio is a renowned tourist area. In
winter this fantastic ski resort offers 90 kilometres of ski-runs,
while in summer the 50,000-hectare Adamello-Brenta Nature Park
contains 450 kilometres of alpine paths. Madonna di Compiglio is
easily reached from Trento, with nearby airports at Verona, Brescia,
Venice and Milan.
REGISTRATION
People interested in attending the school should submit an application
containing a short CV, a description of their research interests, and
their motivations. Applications will be evaluated based on
appropriateness of the applicant to the Summer School objectives and
on a first-come, first-serve policy. The School will admit a maximum
of 50 students. Participation in the school is highly subsidised by
PLANET (the European Network of Excellence in AI Planning). The
registration fee is 300 EU, which covers accommodation expenses, as
well as all meals, local transportations and course material.
