Based on the looks on people's faces, it wasn't clear whether you all have read/started reading the statistical learning chapter

(chapter 20 in R&N). If you haven't started, please do start! You should have read at least until the bayes network learning for complete data

(and preferably all the way to hidden data).

Also, if you don't have background in bayes networks, please make sure you read the chapter on that (chapter 14); or alternately hear the

lectures corresponding to weeks 8, 9 and 10 in CSE471 here: http://rakaposhi.eas.asu.edu/cse471/notes-s09.html
