Thanks for the link. I know there are several bayesian spam
filters--didn't know this particular one. (Paul Graham is a great lisp
hacker, by the way). What is actually amazing is that even more
simpler techniques are enough to weed out spam quite well--I used
spamnix (which is based on spamassassin and vipul's
razor. Spamassassin doesn't do much of analysis of my messages--but
just uses global characteristics of spam in general and comes with
pre-set weights).

Regarding II/R course--it will probably likely offered in Spring 04
(For fall, I am scheduled to teach 471--intro to AI--the mother of all
interesting courses in the world http://rakaposhi.eas.asu.edu/cse471 )

Thanks for misleading the unsuspecting public about the merits of II/R
course. Reminds me about the parable of the gang of thieves and a
scorpion (you know--this gang of thieves breaks into a bank, and go
into the bank safe. There is a small hidden alcove in one corner. The first
thief goes and puts in his hand. He is bitten hard by a scorpion. So
he comes out, and tells the second thief--"Man there is SOOO much gold
in there", and so the second goes, gets bitten, comes out and tells
the third thief... you get the drift)
