The fifth talk of the seminar series
will be this Friday.
Date: 10/04/02 (Friday)
Time: 11:00 -- 12:15 PM
Place: GWC 487
Speaker: Chitta Baral
I will present the recent paper
John Grant Jack Minker,
A Logic-Based Approach to Data Integration,
Theory and Practice of Logic Programming, Vol 2(3), May 2002, 293-321.
It can be found in http://prism.cs.umd.edu/people/minker.html.
In this paper Minker and Grant consider a golbal schema, and
assume that various sites (say in the web)
give us only ceratin views of the schema.
Given that, they discuss how to transform a query so that it can be
answered using those views. Their method is based on
Clark's completion. So first I will discuss Clark's completion
of queries and then proceed from there.
