What
did you like most about this course?
The way the ideas were introduced and how emphasis was given to
develop the "right" inuition.
Professor is amazing!
It did a good job of covering important areas in IR, Data Mining,
and information extraction. Many interesting and novel ideas were
presented. The professor is obviously very intelligent and
interested/expert in many diverse areas. That breadth of knowledge was
fun to see.
everything..
The content, way of presentation, project, open environment.
The teacher was very excited, and I learned many new things.
Also, putting videos on the website was excellent.
inspires thinking, and broadens vision.
What
did you like least about this course?
In the short-term the all-nighters pulled to finish the projects
and homeworks were annoying. But it proved to be useful, as I ended up
learning a lot.
Nothing.
Jumbled slides were the only reference, and they were disorganized
with limited, poor examples to work from. There was some overlap with
this and other courses I've taken, thank goodness, so I could use simple
slides from the others to make sense of simple problems that were
unintelligible in this courses slides (despite feedback from many
students asking for clearer examples they didn't improve). Questions
and participation were discouraged (in abrupt ways), and class was an
average of ten minutes over time every day (even though students
expressed concerns that they had to get to other classes afterwards).
There's even going to be an extra class during the busiest time of the
semester because the professor's trying to cram way too much in. I'd
prefer the professor spent this extra time cleaning up the slides, I
think I'd learn more. Instead I spend more time in and out of class
trying to decipher the course content.
nothing..
nothing mostly.
The homeworks and projects could have been better described. I
had many questions about what was asked of us.
grading is picky
Comments
The instructor is top-class. The course has increased my
breadth-wise knowledge of computer science. It has done a lot of good to
my self-confidence. Thanks Rao for offering this awesome course. Keep
up the good work.
The information in this class is invaluable and I'm glad to know
it. Making data mining a pre-req for this course would save time and
allow the professor to get to everything without having to extend all of
his classes.
nice course.. exceptional instructor whose teaching skills make
difficult topics easy to understand..
suggestion - asu or atleast cs dept should record such courses (courses taken by prof rao) and make them freely available.. similar to mit ocw..
Best professor.
The instructor has a lot of attitude.A teacher should always be
humble.
excellent course overall
