A great paper on poker and application of gametheoretic strategies

We (Will and I ) just heard a talk by Jonathan Schaeffer on their poker 
research. One of the breakthroughs a couple of years back
was a sort of application of gametheoretic nash equilibra computation to a 
relaxed version of poker and use that strategy to
guide the full game.  This got them to stones throw of the top human poker 
players.

Here is the paper from IJCAI on this topic--it got the best paper award in 
2003!
