Guest talk in the next class

There will be a talk by Dr. Biplav Srivastava for part of the next
class. Here is an abstract of the talk. As you can see it deals with
the information integration part of our course. You are encouraged to
look at bodha.com before the talk, and get ready to pick the speaker's
brains about issues in information integration.

(I realize that this talk would have made much more sense after we had
completed the second part of our course. However, the opportunity came
now and not then... )

Title: Issues in Transaction Integration with a Case Study
Presenter: Biplav Srivastava, Ph.D.
           Core Technology Architect, Bodha.com
---------------------------------------------------

The number of data sources as well as the amount of data is
ever increasing. Integrating data across multiple data sources
is important but only the first step. What is really needed
in this fast growing information-centric world is integration
of meaningful transactions. In this 30-minute talk, research
as well as practical issues will be highlighted in
integrating transactions, and compared with those in just
aggregating data. Moreover, a case study of Bodha will be
presented.

Bodha (Bodha.com) is a fast growing start-up located in the Bay Area.
Bodha was founded in 1999 to overcome the inefficiencies that exist
in web-based interactions where without a cost-effective and rapid
solution to transaction integration, businesses incur wasted time
and money to connect on a one-to-one basis to other businesses.
Bodha's solution, the Bodha Transaction Network, is a unique solution
to this problems and makes fast, lightweight integration a reality.
